Saturday Morning Fun

German Shorthaired Pointer
Caelan is sweet beyond compare. Good natured, a huge snuggler, likes to be petted and loved from sun up till sun down. He is also the resident trouble maker. As the old adage goes, a tired dog is a good dog, so we look for ways to keep him entertained. A few Christmases back we bought the cats a remote control truck. I know that may seem a bit odd, but they are chasers. We put a tail on the truck and oh, did they chase. When we got Taren he naturally got in on the action as well. He likes to run and bark at it. Caelan was just looking for trouble this morning so the old remote control was resurrected. He absolutely did not know what to make of it. He watched, his eyebrows working, he dodged and weaved, jumping on the couch and up out of the way for a view from above. Finally coming to lean against me, trying to wrap to his mind around it. We filled the trunk with kibble and Taren caught the scent soon enough and the chase was on gobbling piece by piece as he caught the truck. Caelan was happy to get his share from the wayward pieces that fell as the truck skidded around corners. It was quite a sight on an early Saturday morning. I think Caelan will need some time to figure out the true delight of this new toy. Unfortunately, it did not tire him a bit so a walk will be the order of the day. Happy Saturday! Aroooooooo

My Blue Eyed Boy

Weimaraner Puppy At Beach

This was Tarens first time at the beach. I remember this day. It was a bit chilly, and he didn't quite know what to make of it all. He loved digging in the sand, the smell of the washed up kelp, but was far less impressed with the ocean its self.

While his eyes have faded to light blue green his puppyish spirit remains. It is hard to believe he was ever this small. Even harder still, that there was ever a time that we did not have both boys.

My Silly Boys

My boys are a perfect pair. They are about as silly as two dogs can get. You've often heard me say they suffer from excess personality and after you watch this short video you will see why. They love to ride in the Jeep, and I love to watch them. These photos were taken from the passengers side mirror, no I'm not driving. Things start out fine and then morph into the ridiculous. It never fails to make me laugh. The video is short, less than two minutes. For what ever reason they seem to like the feel of the wind in their jowls. Especially Caelan, he looks like a blow fish.

As a disclaimer, the window is not down far, we live in the country and these were taken on a gravel farm road, in the middle of no where. We are going ten miles an hour if that. The only thing in sight is cows. The boys are on a lead and no one is in any danger of falling out or getting hurt. I promise. Now go watch the video. Aroooooo!

Home Protection

Taren goes by many names. When he was little we called him Taren-gator because of his sharp little baby teeth. My wonderful friend Amber calls him T-dawg. I call him Tare-Tare, or sometimes Bubba. I affectionately call him my bad boy, but the true title goes to his brother. More often than not I call him, my boy. How's my boy? You're a good boy. Momma loves the boy. All the while he does the Weimy wiggle butt and sticks his wet nose in my face, basking in the attention and praise. Beyond any of those titles, Taren is my protector. He follows me from room to room. He watches me for clues, but more so, he watches others. I always feel safe in his presence and for that he IS a very good boy, and the momma loves the boy.

My boys. They are silly and fun loving. They both suffer from excess personality. Where one goes the other follows. They are ball chasers, Frisbee catchers, and love to put pedal to the metal and chase one another around the backyard till they drop. Every once in a while they pause and you will capture them doing what they were bred to. They are both listening very intently to our backyard woodpecker. The smiles from their expressions retreating, replaced with looks of intent. You quickly remember they were born to hunt.
